Repair it where it sits, or tow it?
An A/C problem almost never means a tow, because the truck still drives. The real question is whether the fix happens where it’s parked or gets scheduled at a shop. Hose and fitting leaks, compressor clutches, blower motors, switches, and recharges are all standard mobile jobs.
One caution: a seized compressor can shred or throw the belt, and on some engines that belt drives other things too. If you hear grinding from the compressor or the belt came off, have it checked before driving far.

Truck A/C Repair: common questions
Why is my truck A/C blowing warm?
Most often it’s low refrigerant from a leak, a compressor clutch that isn’t engaging, a failed pressure switch, or a clogged condenser. Testing shows which one.
Can you just recharge it?
A recharge without fixing the leak is a short-term patch — the refrigerant leaks out again. The right repair finds and fixes the leak, then recharges.
Why does it cool while driving but not at idle?
At idle there’s less airflow across the condenser. A condenser plugged with debris, a weak fan clutch, or a marginal charge usually shows up at idle first.
Do you work on sleeper A/C and APUs?
Tell dispatch the make of your APU or sleeper system so the technician knows what to expect.
Do you fix heaters too?
Heater problems like blend doors, blower motors, controls, and coolant flow can often be handled on site. Heater core replacement is usually a shop job.
What refrigerant does my truck use?
Many trucks use R-134a, and some newer ones use R-1234yf. The correct type is on a label under the hood.
