Great Smoky Mountains National Park is the most-visited national park in the country, and Sevierville, Pigeon Forge, and Gatlinburg are its front door. Behind the attractions, cabins, and restaurants is a huge daily supply chain: food service trucks, beverage trucks, linen and laundry trucks, fuel haulers, construction crews, and tractor-trailers stocking stores and outlets.
Those trucks share the road with tourist traffic that rarely lets up. On a summer Saturday or an October weekend, the Parkway can move at a crawl, and a stalled truck in a travel lane becomes a big problem quickly.
Getting in and out of Sevier County
- I-40 Exit 407 (SR 66, Winfield Dunn Parkway). The main way in from the interstate, through Kodak into Sevierville. The exit is packed with travel traffic, including a Buc-ee’s, which doesn’t allow tractor-trailers — plan fuel and parking elsewhere.
- The Parkway (US-441). Sevierville through Pigeon Forge to Gatlinburg, with heavy traffic and many signals.
- Chapman Highway (US-441). From South Knoxville through Seymour into Sevierville.
- US-411 (Dolly Parton Parkway). East toward Newport and west toward Maryville.
- I-40 Exit 412 (Deep Springs Road). Love’s and other truck stops a few miles east of Exit 407.
US-441 through the national park (Newfound Gap Road) is not a truck route — commercial trucks are generally prohibited there. Deliveries into Gatlinburg come up the Parkway.

No — Buc-ee’s doesn’t allow tractor-trailers. The nearest truck stops are a few miles east at Exit 412 (Deep Springs Road) or west at Exit 398 (Strawberry Plains).
Do you go to Gatlinburg?
Yes, along the Parkway. Traffic can be heavy, so give dispatch a precise location — the business name, a traffic light number, or a cross street.
Can trucks go through the national park?
Commercial trucks are generally not allowed on Newfound Gap Road (US-441) through Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Plan routes around it.
