Pellissippi Parkway links Oak Ridge, West Knoxville, and Maryville/Alcoa, crossing I-40/I-75 and the Tennessee River. Simplified map — not for navigation.

One parkway, two numbers

Pellissippi Parkway is about 20 miles of freeway on Knoxville’s west side. The northern section, signed SR 162, runs from SR 62 near Solway (on the way to Oak Ridge) south past Hardin Valley to I-40/I-75 at Exit 376. From there south it’s Interstate 140, crossing Kingston Pike, Westland Drive, and Northshore Drive, then the Tennessee River on the Bonnyman bridge into Blount County, ending at Alcoa Highway (US-129) near McGhee Tyson Airport. SR 162 continues a short way past Cusick Road to SR 33 in Maryville.

It’s the main truck link between Oak Ridge, the West Knoxville business corridor, and the airport and plants in Alcoa and Maryville.

Breakdowns on the parkway

  • The I-40 interchange. Heavy merging traffic at Exit 376 — get clear of the ramps before stopping.
  • The river bridge. No place to stop. If the truck is failing, keep going to Topside Road or Northshore Drive if it’s safe.
  • Hardin Valley and Dutchtown. Business parks with plenty of delivery trucks and contractor rigs.

Pellissippi has good shoulders on most of its length, but traffic moves fast. Pull all the way off, flashers on, and call with the direction and nearest interchange.
