Lenoir City and Loudon sit where I-40 and I-75 split southwest of Knoxville, along the Tennessee River. Simplified map — not for navigation.

Where I-40 and I-75 go their separate ways

Coming from Knoxville, I-40 and I-75 run together until Exit 368, just west of Watt Road, where I-75 turns south toward Chattanooga and I-40 continues west toward Nashville. Loudon County sits right on that split. I-40 passes north of Lenoir City at Exit 364 (US-321 / SR 95). I-75 runs past Lenoir City at Exit 81 and past Loudon at Exits 76 and 72.

Two of those exits have big truck stops. Love’s is at I-40 Exit 364 on Highway 321, and another Love’s is at I-75 Exit 72 in Loudon. Both are common places for a driver to pull in with a problem and call.

Industry along the Tennessee River

Lenoir City and Loudon both sit on the Tennessee River, with Fort Loudoun Dam at Lenoir City and Tellico Lake just upstream. Loudon has a long industrial history, with large plants that ship by truck every day, and the county is growing fast. That brings new subdivisions, retail, and road work, and with them dump trucks, concrete trucks, and delivery traffic on US-321 and US-11.
